    Abstract: A biaxially-oriented polyester film includes at least two layers and at least one outermost layer is composed of a polyester having a rigid amorphous content of about 10 to 55%. The biaxially-oriented polyester film has a longitudinal Young's Modulus of at least about 4.5 GPa. It can be obtained by stretching an unoriented film in the longitudinal direction at a draw ratio of 3 to 8 in three stages at about 70 to 160 DEG C, then in a transverse direction at a draw ratio of about 3 to 8 and at about 80 to 150 DEG C and then heat-treating and cooling the heat-treated film to ordinary temperature in three or more stages at 180 to 50 DEG C.
