The objective of the present invention is to provide a photovoltaic element which has high photoelectric conversion efficiency and an electron-donating organic material which comprises a conjugate polymer having a structure of a thieno[3, 4-b]thiophene skeleton with an alkoxycarbonyl group in which a specific alkyl group part is a straight chain alkyl group or an alkanoyl group in which the alkyl group part is a straight chain alkyl group and a benzo[1,2-b: 4, 5-b']dithiophene skeleton with a heteroaryl group.

There is provided a photovoltaic element having excellent durability owing to an electron extraction layer in which an inorganic compound and an electron-donating group are more firmly bonded to each other, and including at least a cathode, an electron extraction layer, an photoelectric conversion layer and an anode in this order, the electron extraction layer containing an inorganic compound (A), and an organic compound (B) having an electron-donating group and a bonding group, the electron extraction layer having an inorganic/organic hybrid structure in which the inorganic compound (A) and at least a part of the organic compound (B) are bonded to each other via the bonding group.
