Abstract: PURPOSE:To return the operation of the multiple effect evaporators to a normal condition rapidly by a method wherein a specified operating method is adopted when reoperating the multiple effect evaporators, and the blocking of heat exchangers being incorporated into external circulation systems is prevented. CONSTITUTION:At operating the multiple effect evaporators after cleaning an evaporator 1A, slurry stored in a storage tank 8 is supplied into the evaporator 1A through a storing liquid feed system 10. Slurry in another evaporator 1B different from the evaporator 1A or an external circulation system 3B is fed into the evaporator 1A from a discharge system 6B without duluting the slurry, and the concentration of the slurry, which has existed in the evaporator 1A up to that time, is heightened. The supply of the slurry from the evaporator 1B fed to the evaporator 1A is continued until the operation of the evaporator 1A is brought to a condition which is normal or close to near normalcy, and the quantity of supply is decided so that time required until the operation is brought to normalcy be minimum. After the operating conditions of the evaporator 1A are recovered to the normal condition, the movement of the slurry is halted, and the multiple effect evaporators start original operation.
