Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent an arc across filaments and prevent the arc open circuit by sealing the mixed gas constituted of xenon gas, halogen gas, and nitrogen gas and specifying the product of the sealing gas pressure and the distance between the filaments. CONSTITUTION:The mixed gas sealed in a halogen electric lamp is constituted of xenon gas, nitrogen gas, and halogen gas, the product P.d (atm.mm) is in the range of P.d>=1.5, where P(atm) is the sealing gas pressure and d(mm) is the distance between multiple filaments. The mixed gas is constituted of halogen gas, xenon gas, and nitrogen gas, the optimum value of P.d(atm.mm) is determined by experiment, thereby the arc open circuit can be prevented. As a result, the halogen electric lamp utilizing xenon gas as the mixed gas and having high efficiency and a long life can be realized.
