Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device the transmittance of which has excellent in-plane uniformity.
SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device 1 is equipped with first and second substrates placed opposite to each other; a pixel electrodes 10 disposed on the surface of the first substrate opposite to the second substrate; a common electrode disposed on the surface of the second substrate opposite to the first substrate and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the pixel electrode 10 and the common electrode. The pixel electrode 10 is provided with a plurality of sub-pixel electrodes 10A to 10C, separated from and electrically connected to one another wherein each of the plurality of sub-pixel electrodes 10A to 10C is provided with a plurality of comb-shaped conductive layers 10a to 10d of which the shapes of the teeth of comb in the longitudinal directions are mutually different and which are mutually electrically connected. The shapes of patterns formed of the mutually different longitudinal directions are mutually identical among the plurality of sub-pixel electrodes 10A to 10C, and the directions of the patterns are mutually different among the plurality of sub-pixel electrodes 10A to 10C.

SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device 1 is equipped with first and second substrates 7, 15 placed opposite to each other, a pixel electrode 10 disposed on a surface of the first substrate 7 opposite to the second substrate 15, wiring arranged on the surface of the first substrate 7 opposite to the second substrate 15, a common electrode 16 disposed on a surface of the second substrate 15 opposite to the first substrate 7 and a liquid crystal layer 4 disposed between the pixel electrode 10 and the common electrode 16. The pixel electrode 10 is characterized by being provided with a plurality of comb-shaped conductive layers of which the longitudinal directions of the teeth of comb are mutually different and which are electrically connected wherein at least a part of the wiring exists being extended so as to overlap boundaries between respective adjacent pairs of a plurality of the comb-shaped conductive layers.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which is stably operated without necessitating high accuracy in alignment between an array substrate and a counter substrate even when an MVA mode is adopted. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with an array substrate comprising pixel electrodes 8, a counter substrate comprising a common electrode and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the substrates. The array substrate comprises a tilt controlling part controlling tilt directions of a liquid crystal molecules to divide a pixel region into a plurality of domains having tilt directions of the liquid crystal molecules different from each other by forming fluctuation of an electric field where intense and weak electric field regions are alternately arranged in various directions nearly parallel to each substrate in a pixel region consisting of the liquid crystal layer between the pixel electrodes 8 and the counter electrode as voltage is being applied. The tilt controlling part has a plurality of domain division patterns SL dividing the pixel electrodes 8 into a plurality of sub electrode parts 8S and regulating an anisotropic distribution of the intense and the weak electric field regions to a plurality of the sub electrode parts 8S. SOLUTION: The pixel electrode 17 which is patterned with a slit 16 and a dielectric layer so as to alternately form a high electric field region and a low electric field region on the array substrate 20 is formed. The liquid crystal display device is constructed so as to make thickness of a liquid crystal layer 26 in the respective high and low electric field regions be mutually different.
