SOLUTION: The viewing angle controlling device has a first alignment layer having a plurality of first and second regions with different alignment directions to each other, and a second alignment layer having a plurality of third and fourth regions having different alignment directions to each other and corresponding to the first and second regions, respectively. SOLUTION: Two glass substrates 11 on which picture element electrodes 12 are formed on the surface respectively are oppositely arranged and a film-like liquid crystal layer 17 is clamped between the glass substrates 11. The end part of the film-like liquid crystal layer 17 is obliquely cut and it is provided with a prescribed angle larger than 0 deg. and less than 90 deg. to the lower glass substrate 11. Then, the upper and lower glass substrates 11 and the film-like liquid crystal layer 17 are adhered by an adhesive material 15. Further, a polarizing plate 18 is stuck on the upper glass substrate 11 and a liquid crystal display element is formed. As for the liquid crystal display element formed in such a manner, it becomes in the state that even when the polarizing plate 18 stuck on the surface is peeled off and the state of a seal part 15 is observed, the damage of the film-like liquid crystal layer 17 is not generated.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To execute surely and stably pull-in decreasing a moving speed in the vertical direction in the vicinity of a focus, at the time of pulling in an optical pickup driven in the vertical direction by a focusing actuator, to a focusing servo-state. CONSTITUTION:When a pull-in start signal 38 is inputted, a pull-in driving switch 28 goes to ON, an output of an actuator up-and-down signal generating circuit 26 is provided to a focusing actuator 11, and an optical pickup head is moved up and down. Subsequently, the output of a main spot detector 12 is varied, and a main signal 17 and a focus error signal 18 are generated. When these main signal 17 and focus error signal 18 exceed a scheduled level, a subtraction control switch 33 goes to ON, a subtracting circuit 30 is operated, and the output of the actuator up-and-down signal generating circuit 26 is decreased. Therefore, an up-and-down motion speed in the vicinity of a focus is decreased. When the focus error signal 18 detects a focused state, a servo-loop switch 36 goes to ON, the pull-in driving switch 28 goes to OFF, and pull-in to a focusing servo-state is completed.
