    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a red light emitting phosphor practically usable for a light-emitting diode capable of efficiently absorbing ultraviolet rays at an excitation wavelength of about 370 nm and emitting red light at high efficiency and in order to take white light or arbitrary medium color light out of a single light-emitting diode.
    SOLUTION: A process for manufacturing the red light emitting phosphor comprises compounding and mixing powders of materials to have a composition of europium-samarium doped lanthanum oxysulfide phosphor expressed by general formula: (La

    2 S (wherein 0.01≤x≤0.15, 0.0001≤y≤0.03), storing and firing the mixed powders of materials in a case for firing with a lid, washing a resultant fired stuff with pure water, crushing the fired stuff after washing by a ball mill, and washing crushed particles with acid solution having a pH of at least 2 and not more than 4, wherein 30 mol% or less of the above La is replaced by at least one element of Y and Gd.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a mixed phosphor which has a high lumen maintenance factor and hardly causes the color difference between both ends of a bulb and to provide, the method for producing the mixed phosphor, and a fluorescent lamp. CONSTITUTION:A mixed phosphor is provided which comprises phosphors 1, 2, and 3 (Y2O3:Eu ) and in which particles of the phosphor 3 having the highest lumen maintenance factor have diameters smaller than particles of other phosphors 2 and 3 and are attached to the surfaces of particles of other phosphors 2 and 3. A fluorescent lamp is produced by using the mixed phosphor. Attaching Y2O3:Eu phosphor particles brings the charging tendency of a green or blue phosphor close to HgO, decreasing the amt. of a black substance adsorbed by the phosphor surface. A red phosphor, having a similar distribution to the green or blue phosphor in a bulb, can emit a homogeneously colored light.
