Abstract: An elevator control system which provide a high transportation efficiency and also provides for equalization of service quality between floors when a large number of passengers located at different floors desire transportation to a common particular floor. Passengers waiting at a lower level floor will first be picked up prior to the elevator moving to the upper level floors so that the passengers at the lower levels will also be able to get on the elevator when there is a large number of passengers who wish to go to a particular floor during a particular time of the day.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for elevator group control, capable of improving the transport efficiency without severely lowering the overall quality of service, even when the traffic demand to a particular floor sharply increased in a particular period of time. In the apparatus, the elevator cars of the elevator system are controlled according to the hall call allocation control based on the transport efficiency of the elevator system, such that in a case the response elevator car having an ultimate destination floor is additionally allocated to another floor which is located in an opposite direction from an ultimate destination of the response elevator car, the responds elevator car is controlled to reverse a direction of motion to serve said another floor and then to reverse the direction of motion again to move to the ultimate destination floor.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for elevator group control is capable of improving the transport efficiency without severely lowering the overall quality of service. The elevator cars are controlled such that in a case where a responding elevator car has an ultimate destination floor in one direction it can be additionally allocated to another floor which is located in the opposite direction. The car is then controlled to reverse its direction of motion to serve said another floor and then to reverse the direction of motion again to move to the ultimate destination floor. The system is particularly effective when the traffic demand to a particular floor such as a restaurant sharply increases in a particular period of time. An indication may be provided to occupants of the elevator of the change in direction to avoid consternation. This may take the form of a visual or audible warning such as the announcement "We will go up for a while".
