Abstract: A liquid crystal display device having pixels, each pixel comprising a lower substrate (2) and an upper substrate (1) with a liquid crystal material (3) in between, each pixel also comprising an electrode structure between said lower substrate (2) and said upper substrate (1), wherein said electrode structure comprises electrodes (4; 4(i), i = 1, 2, 3, ..., I), each electrode having a polygon-shaped electrode surface and a plurality of electrode edges, said electrodes (4; 4(i)) being arranged such that if an electrode edge is facing an electrode edge of an adjacent electrode then said electrode edge and said electrode edge of said adjacent electrode define a distance which is substantially constant along said entire electrode edge.
