    Abstract: A quick setting and release actuator (10) for cooperating with an axially movable chuck for holding a tubular workpiece (24) in fixed position includes an anchor member (12) that is fixed relative to a housing of a machine tool (20) and a thrust member (42) carried by a pivotally mounted carrier member (38) that pivots towards and away from the anchor member (12) to drive the thrust member (42) into engagement with the end wall (44) of a multi-segment collet (26) to cause the collet (26) to ride along its segment bearing surfaces (30) to engage the periphery of the workpiece (24) to be retained in the machine tool (20). Thrust member (42) may be pivotally mounted by a pivot connection (48) on the carrier (38) so that the thrust member (42) will align itself with the end wall (44) of the collet (26) even when the carrier (38) is not precisely parallel with the collet end wall (44).

    Abstract: An adjustable roller bearing assembly (48) adapted for use in a machine tool includes an elongated support bolt (102) that rotatably supports a radially extending roller bearing (126), and a bushing (66) adapted to be positioned within a bore (53) of a support member and to which the bolt member can be threadably secured. The bushing (66) includes an outer cylindrical portion (80) adapted to be snugly received within a bore of a support member and a cylindrical through hole through which the bolt extends. The outer cylindrical surface of the bushing (66) is eccentric with respect to a central longitudinal axis of the bushing so that the roller bearing (126) and its associated support bolt (102) can be radially adjusted relative to the support member by rotation of the bushing within the bore. The bushing is a one piece integrated sleeve, flange and threaded connector so that only the support bolt and bushing are needed to both clamp the bearing on the support and radially adjust the bearing position relative to the support.
