Abstract: Method for contact-free optical generation of an unrolled fingerprint containing the fingerprint image between the two sides of the nail. Accordingly the surface (1) of the finger ball is divided into partially overlapping regions (3) with imaging optics (4) used to generate corresponding partial images. Composition of the whole image by combination of the partial images involves use of the line structure so that overlapping regions can be correlated.
