Abstract:
An oil resistant gasket and method for preparing said oil resistant gasket which comprises applying an organic polymeric coating selected from the group consisting of parylene N, parylene D, parylene C and mixtures thereof; to a porous, elastomeric gasket.
Abstract:
A diagnostic sampling device and system for analyzing body fluids includes a transparent housing defining a test chamber therein in communication with a fluid inlet and a gas outlet, a test strip disposed in the test chamber and having an indicating portion reactive to a condition of the body fluids, and a ruler positionable outside the housing adjacent the test chamber for comparison with indicating portions of the test strip. A plug disposed in the gas outlet of the housing permits gas flow while preventing passage of body fluids, and is preferably formed of a porous material having a capacity to seal the gas outlet when contacted by body fluids. An absorbent filter is also disposed in the housing between the fluid inlet and the test chamber. The fluid inlet can be configured to couple with the proximal end of an enteral feeding tube, in which case the gas outlet is preferably configured to couple with a syringe so that the housing can be filled in-line with aspirated body fluids drawn from the enteral feeding tube by creating suction with the syringe. Alternatively, the fluid inlet can be configured to couple with a syringe such that body fluids can be aspirated from the enteral feeding tube directly using the syringe and expelled into the housing off-line via the fluid inlet.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a silicone elastomer having reduced compression set which is obtained by heating a composition comprising:(a) an organopolysiloxane having an average of at least two Si-bonded aliphatically unsaturated monovalent hydrocarbon radicals,(b) an organohydrogenpolysiloxane having at least two silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms per molecule,a platinum catalyst which is capable of promoting the addition of silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms to the aliphatically unsaturated monovalent hydrocarbon radicals, and(d) an iron-manganese spinel.to an elevated temperature.
Abstract:
A stylet comprising a flexible stiffening means for guiding and positioning a flexible tubing, the stiffening means having distal and proximal ends, the distal end being insertable into the flexible tubing; and a connector having an off-centered through bore to provide thick and thin wall portions, the proximal end of the stiffening means being embedded in the thick wall portion.
Abstract:
An apparatus for establishing aseptic/sterile connections including a substantially flexible, substantially transparent sterile barrier enclosing a terminal end of a conduit and a resilient, deformable support card which further includes an adhesive perimeter covered by a release paper and a rolling membrane with a continuous, removable, yieldable, flexible strip material. A portion of the rolling membrane is removably adhered to the support card and overlies the end of the conduit. A force applied to the free end of the rolling membrane withdraws the entire rolling membrane to expose the end of the conduit so that an aseptic/sterile connection is achieved by adhering opposing support cards together, removing the rolling membrane to create a sterile corridor between a first sterile barrier and a second sterile barrier, and mating the terminal end of a first conduit and a second conduit together.
Abstract:
A ring-shaped suction head for containing and aspirating fluids falling to the floor of a surgical operating room has a flow channel recessed in the bottom surface of a ring-shaped body, a suction port communicating with the flow channel and a containment wall extending from the bottom surface to define a fluid containment area within the body. The ring-shaped configuration defines an opening through the body coinciding with the containment area and permitting grasping with the hand for positioning the suction head on the floor of the operating room, particularly under a stream of fluid to contain the fluid within the body.
Abstract:
An enteral feeding tube includes a unitary, molded weighted bolus insert molded to a preformed tubular stem. The bolus and stem are each formed from a polymeric composition including a thermoplastic elastomeric block copolymer, e.g. styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene, and an essentially linear polysiloxane having a kinematic viscosity at room temperature of 20 to 10.sup.6 centistokes, and optionally, polypropylene and/or mineral oil. The bolus is weighted with tungsten powder mixed into the polymeric composition. The bolus includes a central bore extending over at least a portion of its length and communicating with the interior of the stem and to the exterior of the bolus.
Abstract:
Copper complexes of aminoorgano group-containing organosilicon compounds exhibit high thermal stability and can be used to impart thermal stability to a wide variety of polymer compositions. The complexes are particularly useful as constituents of xerographic rollers and fuser oils, and are simply and economically prepared.
Abstract:
Provided is a easily manufactured, easily installed, disposable, re-usable, sanitary coupling and seal-forming system which can be 1) front-mounted on circulating systems without breaking into circulatory line tubing or other conduits, and 2) opened and reclosed accessibly, without compromising the sealing integrity of the sealing assembly or the mechanical integrity of a one-piece system. The seal fitting comprises two subcomponents with a linking system which can be opened, or alternatively act as a hinge.
Abstract:
Provided is a means for efficiently completing a high pressure seal and a connector assembly comprising two sealing members, each comprising an annular groove, and two elastomeric gasket members, each disposed into and fittingly received by the annular grooves of one of said sealing members, each gasket additionally comprising a sealing face not received into the annular grooves, wherein the sealing faces are in mutual aligned pressurized contact.
