Abstract: A knife for cutting food products having a proximal end, a distal end and a length defined therebetween. The knife includes a blade portion having a cutting edge and a spine disposed on a top side of the blade portion and generally opposed to the cutting edge. The knife includes a handle portion disposed proximal of the blade portion with a top surface and a bottom surface, a first end proximal to the blade portion and a second end distal to the blade portion. The handle portion includes a bolster section with at least a first thickness, a first lateral sidewall and a second lateral sidewall. The bolster section is disposed at the first end of the handle portion and adjacent to the blade portion. The first sidewall of the bolster section includes an arcuate proximal bolster boundary defined by a curvilinear ridge extending downwardly toward the blade portion from a point proximate the top surface of the handle portion. The first sidewall of the bolster section also includes an arcuate distal bolster boundary being defined by a curvilinear ridge extending downwardly toward the blade portion from a point proximate the bottom surface of the handle portion. A portion of the curvilinear ridge defining the arcuate proximal bolster boundary is spaced a distance along the length of the knife from a portion of the curvilinear ridge defining the arcuate distal boundary. A surface depression is formed in at least one of the first lateral sidewall and the second lateral sidewall, the surface depression being disposed between the curvilinear ridge defining the arcuate proximal bolster boundary.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for deploying a luminescent dissolved oxygen sensor where the luminescent material is already stable, is disclosed. The luminescent material of the sensor is shipped immersed in fluid. The luminescent material of the sensor may be pre-saturated in a fluid before shipping or may be allowed to saturate during shipping.

Abstract: An interconnect for a fuel dispensing nozzle which provides for sustained shut off of a nozzle when its spout is not inserted into the fill pipe of a fuel tank. When the spout inserts within the fill pipe its bellows or splashguard is forced rearwardly, for urging an interconnecting rod to move rearwardly, against the bias of a spring, to force a pivotal link to disengage from the automatic shut-off diaphragm, to allow it to function normally. But when the nozzle is removed from the fuel tank, the pivotal link contacts against the diaphragm structure, of the automatic shut-off, and prevents the nozzle from dispensing or delivering any fuel from the dispenser.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for visually detecting when a luminescent dissolved oxygen sensor is operating is disclosed. In one example embodiment of the invention, a shutter is placed into the light tight container. When the shutter is open, a user can see into the light tight container and verify probe operation. When the shutter is closed, external light is prevented from entering the light tight container and affecting measurement accuracy. In another example embodiment of the invention, one end of a light pipe is placed on the outside of the light tight container, and the other end is positioned to view the light source of the probe. In another example embodiment of the invention a second light source, visible on the outside of the light tight container, is used to verify operation of the probe. In another example embodiment of the invention, a predetermined area is left open in the optically opaque hydrostatically transparent on the face of the sensor window, allowing a user to see light from the sensor when the sensor is operating properly.
