    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a color filter for preventing color mixing between adjoining pixels upon manufacturing a color filter by use of an ink-jet system. SOLUTION: The method includes the steps of: forming a light shielding layer in a predetermined pattern on a transparent substrate; discharging color materials of the respective colors onto openings of the light shielding layer to obtain a specified arrangement by an ink-jet method to form a color layer having a first film thickness; vaporizing the solvent in the color layer to reduce the film thickness of the color layer into a second film thickness smaller than the first film thickness; and heat treating the color layer.
