Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new rapidly curable thermosetting composition excellent in mechanical properties, electrical properties, adhesion, heat, moisture and chemical resistances and storage stability, etc., and usable in producing a new cured product useful as a substitute for an epoxy resin in the fields of applications to coating materials, coating agents, adhesives, electrical insulating materials, semiconductor encapsulants, etc., to provide a method for curing the composition and to produce the new cured product obtained by the method. SOLUTION: This thermosetting composition contains 5-95 pts.wt. of an oxetane compound having 1-4 oxetane rings in the molecule, 95-5 pts.wt. of an oxirane compound having >=1 oxirane rings in the molecule and a latent heat cationic polymerizing catalyst in an amount of 0.01-20 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the sum total of both the compounds. The new cured product is obtained by heating the composition at 50-200 deg.C temperature for 1 min to 50 h and carrying out the cationic polymerization reaction and has a three- dimensional network structure.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermosetting oxetane composition capable of obtaining a cured product having good mechanical properties, electrical properties, adhesiveness, thermal resistance, moisture resistance, chemical resistance or the like and useful as an alternative for an epoxy resin, by making the composition include a specified polymer and a carboxyl group-containing compound. SOLUTION: This composition is obtained by including (A) at least one polymer consisting of a repeating structural unit of the formula (R1 is H or methyl; R2 is H or a 1-6C alkyl), (B) a compound containing >=2 carboxyl groups in the molecule (e.g. adipic acid) and preferably (C) a quaternary onium salt (specifically, tetra n-butylphosphonium bromide or the like). It is preferable to obtain a cured product by heating a mixture of (A) and (B) in the presence of (C).

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymer having an excellent heat resistance by effecting the reaction of inserting an oxirane or cyclohexene oxide into a polyaryl carbonate in the presence of a quaternary onium salt or a crown ether complex. SOLUTION: This polyaryl alkyl carbonate is represented by formula I [wherein R1 and R2 are each a 1-4C alkyl; R3 is a substituent represented by formula II or III (wherein R4 is allyl or the like; R5 and R6 are each a 1-4 C alkyl; and c and d are each 0-5); a and b are each 0-4; and n>2] or formula IV. This compound is obtained by dissolving 1 mol. of a polyaryl carbonate represented by formula V and 2-10 mol. of at least one member selected among cyclohexene oxide and oxiranes represented by formula VI, etc., in a solvent (e.g. chlorobenzene), adding a quaternary onium salt (e.g. tetra-n-butylammonium chloride) or a crown ether complex catalyst (e.g. 18-crown-6-ether/KCl complex) to the solution and effecting the reaction of inserting the oxirane into the polyaryl carbonate at 50-250 deg.C.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the penetration of molten metal by molding a sand core prototype by using sand, a furan resin and a hardener for curing the resin by heating, then by immersing the sand core prototype into a liquid org. compd. having a specific value or above of the surface tension with a coating material consisting of a medium aq. dispersion, etc. CONSTITUTION:The sand core prototype is molded by using the sand, the furan resin and the hardener for curing the resin by heating. This sand core prototype is treated with the liquid org. compd. having at least >=2.0mN/m service tension with the slurry coating material consisting of the medium aq. dispersion consisting essentially of powdery refractories. The sand core prototype treated with the liquid org. compd. is dried and the dried sand core prototype is treated with an inorg. salt. The sand core prototype treated with the inorg. salt is dried. This process for production consists of for coating the surface of the dried sand core prototype with the coating material and drying the sand core obtd. by the coating. As a result, the penetration of the molten metal into the sand core does not arise and the casting surfaces of the product after discharging the sand are smooth.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the sand core which sufficiently withstands a high-casting pressure at the time of casting by molding a sand core prototype by using sand, a furan resin and a hardener for curing the resin by heating, then by subjecting the sand core prototype to a treatment with a liquid org. compd. having a specific value or above of the surface tension with a coating material consisting of a medium dispersion, etc. CONSTITUTION:The sand core prototype is molded by using the sand, the furan resin and the hardener for curing the resin by heating. This sand core prototype is treated with the liquid org. compd. having at least >=2.0mN/m surface tension with the slurry coating material consisting of the medium aq. dispersion consisting essentially of powdery refractories. This process for production consists of stages for drying the treated sand core prototype, treating the dried sand core prototype with an alkali, drying the treated sand core prototype, coating the surface of the dried sand core prototype with the coating material and drying the sand core obtd. by the coating. As a result, the penetration of molten metal into the sand core does not arise and the sand does not remain at the casting surfaces. The smooth surfaces are thus obtd.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce the sand core prototype with which the working environment is good and which is used for high-pressure casting by forming a core of core sand mixed with a furan resin hardener and coating the core with a coating material consisting essentially of powdery refractories. CONSTITUTION:The furan resin, the hardener for thermal curing of the resin and a liquid org. compd. are first compd. with the core sand constituting sand core aggregate at 0.05 to 0.5 pts.wt. per 100 pts. sand. The sand core prototype having a prescribed shape is molded by using such sand and is heated to prescribed strength. The sand core prototype is then coated. The coating material consists essentially of fine powder silica and fine powder alumina which are added with a small amt. of colloidal silica and is made into a slurry of about 50 to 90wt.% solid content. The sand core prototype compounded with the liquid org. compd. having at least >=2.0mN/m interfacial tension with this coating material is immersed for several seconds in the coating material and then dried by heating. The sand core which has the sufficiently large thickness of the coating and withstands high-pressure casting is obtd.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce the sand core having excellent coatability by subjecting the surface of a sand core prototype formed by solidifying resin coated sand compounded with an org. acid salt to uniform coating. CONSTITUTION:The sand core prototype is produced by using the resin coated sand(RCS) coated with a coal acid type synthetic resin and the org. acid salt. The surface of the molded sand core prototype is coated with a slurry-like coating material consisting of a neutral water dispersion essentially consisting of powdery refractories. The sand core obtd. by such coating is dried. The coating material forms a coating layer of a uniform and suitable thickness without infiltrating the inside of the sand core prototype or being repulsed on the surface at this time. The sand core which sufficiently withstands a high casting pressure is produced by using the sand core prototype solidified by using a shell molding method.
