    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a reinforced rubber composition useful for tire, etc. and having excellent tear strength, flex cracking resistance and modulus, by mixing the slurry of a syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene having high melting point with a rubber solution. CONSTITUTION:(A) 3-40 parts by weight of 1-15wt.% slurry of high melting point syndiotactic 1, 2-polybutadiene having a melting point of >=180 deg.C and reduced viscosity (0.2g/100cc tetralin solution, 135 deg.C) of 0.5-4 and prepared by polymerizing 1, 3-butadiene in an organic solvent (e.g. benzene, etc.) in the presence of a 1, 2-polymerization catalyst (e.g. used in Japanese Patent Publication No.47- 19892, etc.) and thereafter deactivating the product e.g. with blowing hydrogen chloride gas, is mixed with (B) 97-60 parts by weight of 1-20wt.% rubber solution at 10-70 deg.C under stirring. The unreacted 1, 3-butadiene and the organic solvent are distilled off by the steam distillation of the mixture solution to give a solid mixture.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain titled stable composition having a low viscosity at normal temperature and being uniformly coated when applied as a coating varnish, by polymerizing biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride with an armoatic diamine in a specified mixed solvent. CONSTITUTION:A mixed solvent is obtained by mixing (A) 100pts.wt. dioxane, with (B) 35-80pts.wt. dimethylformamide or N-methylpyrrolidone and (C) 0- 75pts.wt. lower alcohol, e.g., methyl alcohol. Next, this mixed solvent is mixed with both biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride and an aromatic diamine of the formula I or II, wherein R1 and R2 are each a substituent such as H or a lower alkyl, and A is a bivalent group wuch as -O- or -S-. The resulting mixture is polymerized at 100 deg.C or below for 0.5-30hr to obtain a polyamic acid solution containing 5-40pts.wt. polyamic acid containing at least 80% recurring units represented by formula III, wherein R is a bivalent aromatic residue derived by removing the amino groups from the aromatic diamine.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a reinforced rubber composition having excellent tear strength and flexural crack resistance, by mixing a solution of a syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene and a rubber solution, and evaporating the solvent from the mixed solution. CONSTITUTION:A solution (A) prepared by dissolving 1-15 grams of high-melting syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene having a melting point of>=180 deg.C and a reduced specific viscosity of 0.5-3, in 100ml of an organic solvent such as aromatic hydrocarbons and aliphatic hydrocarbons, at 100-120 deg.C, is mixed with a solution (B) prepared by dissolving 1-20 grams of a rubber such as cis-1,4-polybutadiene or styrene-butadiene copolymer, in 100 ml of an organic solvent at 10-140 deg.C, and the organic solvents are removed from the mixture leaving a solid mixture of the syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene and the rubber. The weight ratio of the polybutadiene to the rubber is 3:97-40:60.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a highly concentrated and homogeneous polyimide solution having definite viscosity, stably, by prepolymerizing a specific tetracarboxylic acid with an aromatic diamine in a phenolic ompound as a solvent, and then polymerizing the prepolymer in a closed system. CONSTITUTION:The titled composition is prepared by (1) prepolymerizing (A) a tetracarboxylic acid component composed mainly pref. >=90mol% of 3,3',4,4'- biphenyltetracarboxylic acid with (B) an aromatic diamine component composed mainly (pref. >=70mol%) of 4,4'-diaminodiphenyl ether in (C) a phenolic compound as a solvent, raising the temperatur to 100-200 deg.C, (pref. 120-195 deg.C), and (2) polymerizing the prepolymer in a closed system at 100-300 deg.C until the partial pressure of water in the raction system and the water content of the polymerization liquid become constant, if necessary adding water to the reaction system. The amount of (A) is equimolar to (B), and the amount of (C) is selected to attain the concentration of (A)+(B) of 5-20wt%.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:Tetracarboxylic acid component and aromatic diamine component at a specified molar ratio are polymerized in a solvent of halogenated phenol at a specific temperature followed by imidization to produce title solution suitably used as a varnish for coating electric wires that gives cured films with high strength. CONSTITUTION:The polymerization of (A) tetracarboxylic acid component containing more than 80mol% of 3,3',4,4'-biphenyltetracarboxylic acid and (B) aromatic diamine component containing more than 70% of 4,4'-diaminodiphenylether at a sustantially equimolar ratio is effected in a solvent of halogenated phenol as p-chlorophenol, etc., at about 100-300 deg.C, followed by imidization to produce the objective solution of polymer with the structure given in the formula as the major component.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a solution of a polyamic acid having a controlled MW, by polymerizing biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride with an aromatic diamine in a specified mixed solvent. CONSTITUTION:To a mixed solvent consisting of 100pts.wt. dimethylformamide or N-methylpyrrolidone and 5-70pts.wt. lower alcohol, e.g., methyl alcohol, are added a substantially equimolar amount of biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride and an aromatic diamine of formula I or II, wherein R1 and R2 are each a substituent such as H or a lower alkyl, and A is a bivalent group such as -O- or -S-. The resulting mixture is polymerized at 100 deg.C or below for 0.5-20hr to obtain a solution of polyamic acid containing at least 80% recurring units of formula III, wherein R is a bivalent aromatic residue derived by removing the amino groups from the aromatic diamine. EFFECT:It is possible to control arbitrarily the logarithmic viscosity of the polymer in the polyamic acid solution in the range of 0.5-5.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a viscosity improver having improved detergency and dispersibility, and capable of stabilizing the viscosity-temperature relationship continuously, by grafting a monomer containing a nitrogen atom onto ethylene-propylene copolymer with a tubular reactor. CONSTITUTION:(A) A solution of 25-60wt% ethylene-propylene copolymer in benzene or a halogenated aromatic hydrocarbon (viscosity: 10,000-500,000cp at 80 deg.C) is mixed and dissolved in (B) a monomer containing a nitrogen atom and (C) an organic peroxide catalyst at such a temperature as not to decompose the catalyst (C) to give a mixture. The resultant mixture is passed through a tubular reactor and decomposed at the decomposition temperature of the catalyst or above to graft the monomer onto the copolymer. Thus, the aimed dispersion type viscosity improver is obtained. The copolymer in the component (A) preferably has a propyrene content of 25-50mol%, a weight-average molecular weight of 20,000- 300,000 and a molecular weight ratio (weight-average to number-average molecular weight)

    Abstract: PURPOSE:A novel lubricating oil composition, capable of stabilizing the viscosity-temperature relationship, having improved detergency and dispersibility, and prepared by adding a graft copolymer of an oxidation degraded ethylene-propylene copolymer with a monomer containing a nitrogen atom to a lubricating oil. CONSTITUTION:(B) A monomer containing a nitrogen atom, preferably 2-vinylpyridine, is grafted onto (A) a copolymer, which is prepared by the oxidation degradation of an ethylene-propylene copolymer having a weight-average molecular weight of 25,000-600,000 and a propylene content of 25-50mol% in the presence of a gas containing oxygen, preferably in an inert organic solvent, at 50-230 deg.C, at 50-150 deg.C for 30min-10hr. The amount of the component (B) is preferably 5- 50pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. the component (A). The copolymer (A) preferably has a molecular weight reduced by 10%. Preferably, 0.5-5pts.wt., more preferably 1-3pts.wt. the graft copolymer thus obtained is added to 100pts.wt. a lubricating oil to give the object lubricating oil composition.
