Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IR spectrum device and method that do not need a moving components or Fourier transformation during operation. SOLUTION: The IR spectrum information and chemical analysis of a sample are determined using an IR source 310, a sampling accessory 330 having a sample volume, a light-dispersing element 350, a focal plane array (FPA), constituted so as to detect a dispersed light beam, a processor 380 and display 390 for controlling the FPA and displaying an IR spectrograph. Remote sensing is enabled by optical fiber connection, and since no moving component is built, portability, reliability and robustness are improved. These device and method are applied widely to industry and environment, including measurements of various films, coatings, and thickness and chemical compositions of liquid, and can be used for real-time sensing of hazardous materials that include chemicals and germ warfare agents.
