PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair-styling composition affording the hair with good hair-retaining ability and curl retention without giving a sense of stiffness tending to get out of shape, retaining hair curls even under humid conditions, and removable when the hair is washed in shampooing the hair, low in tackiness, and causing neither powdering nor flaking. SOLUTION: The hair-styling composition is provided, including a hydroxy-functionalized dendritic polymer composed of polyester units such as BOLTORN H40 (R) and being such as to be in the form of a spray, gel or mousse. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for cosmetic or personal care use containing a polymer for hair styling, the film-forming properties of the polymer for hair styling is improved, especially it is used under a high humidity condition. SOLUTION: The composition for cosmetic or personal care use contains a polymer for hair styling having an acidic functional group, an anionic group being originated from the acidic functional group, or one or more groups selected from mixtures of the above-mentioned groups, a partially or completely fluorinated compound having an amino group, an acid salt of the amino group or one or more groups selected from the above-mentioned groups and having one aromatic group, and cosmetically acceptable diluents or carriers. This composition is effective, especially used under a high humidity condition.

The invention provides hair styling compositions comprising: (i) from 0.1 % to 10 % by weight, based on total weigth, of a non-rigid emulsion polymerised cross-linked silicone polymer, in which the percentage of branced monomer units in the silicone polymer is from 0.05 % to 10 %. (ii) from 0.01 % to 10 % by weight, based on total weight, of a copolymer having a backbone comprising a polyether and, depending from said backbone, a plurality of poly(vinyl ester) groups, wherein at least some of the ester groups are hydrolysed to the corresponding alcohol; and water. The compositions are typically in the form of an aerosol hair styling mousse or a hair styling cream or gel and provide excellent style creation as well as sensory feel.

A high solvent content emulsion having solvent, functionalized polymer and particles having an isoelectric point below the pH of the emulsion is described. The emulsion yields excellent sensory and deliverability benefits and is suitable for use as a carrier for consumer-based end use compositions.
