Abstract:
THIS INVENTION RELATES TO CURABLE, SOLID POLYMERS, BASED ON CYCLOALIPHATIC POLYPEROXIDES, AND TO A METHOD FOR THE PREPARATION THEREOF BY REACTING A LIQUID CYCLOALIPHATIC POLYEPOXIDE WITH A POLYFUNCTIONAL, ACIDIC CO-REACTANT HAVING A PKA VALUE OF LESS THAN ABOUT 8, SUCH AS POLYCARBOXYLIC ACID OR A POLYHYDRIC PHENOL, IN A REACTION MEDIUM CONTAINING A TERTIARY AMINE. THE CURABLE, SOLID POLYMERS OF THIS INVENTION CAN BE USED IN MOLDING, COATING AND LAMINATING APPLICATIONS AND CURED TO INFUSIBLE PRODUCTS CHARACTERIZED BY EXCELLENT PROPERTIES SUCH AS ELECTRICAL PROPERTIES.
Abstract:
CURABLE COMPOSITIONS FOR INSULATING USE, THE CURED PRODUCTS HAVING A HIGH DEGREE OF FLEXIBILITY AND SUPERIOR WEATHERING CHARACTERISTICS. THESE CURABLE COMPOSITIONS COMPRISE A POLYEPOXIDE, A CURING AGENT THEREFOR, AND A HYDROXYLTERMINATED POLYMER OF A CYCLIC ESTER. THE CURABLE COMPOSITIONS MAY ADVANTAGEOUSLY ALSO CONTAIN A LACTONE TO PROVIDE A HIGHER DEGREE OF FLEXIBILITY IN THE CURED PRODUCT.
Abstract:
Particulate, solid, heat-reactive, fillercontaining resole molding composition are directly produced by reacting a phenol, formaldehyde, and an amine in an aqueous medium containing a water-insoluble filler material having reactive sites on the surface thereof which chemically bond with a phenolic resin and protective colloid to produce an aqueous suspension of a particulate filler-containing resole, and recovering the filler-containing resole from said suspension.
