Abstract:
Novel phosphorylated compositions of a reaction product of a normally solid pendant-hydroxyl-containing thermoplastic polymer having at least 8 hydroxyl groups per molecular chain and an adduct which is the product of either a hydroxy-alkyl acrylate or methacrylate or a lactone-acrylate adduct and an organic diisocyanate having improved dispersion characteristics suitable for use in applications such as magnetic recording media are described.
Abstract:
Novel phosphorylated compositions of a vinyl chloride copolymer or terpolymer, a phenoxy resin, a hydroxyalkyl acrylate or methacrylate-lactone adduct or a reaction product of a normally solid pendant-hydroxyl-containing thermoplastic polymer having at least 8 hydroxyl groups per molecular chain and an adduct which is the product of either a hydroxyalkyl acrylate or methacrylate or a lactone-acrylate adduct and an organic diisocyanate having improved dispersion characteristics suitable for use in applications such as magnetic recording media.
Abstract:
A coating composition capable of substantial deformation without loss of continuity, adhesion, or protective properties. The coating composition comprises a phenoxy resin mixed with a relatively soft modifier resin having certain specific properties. In a preferred embodiment, a particulate material, such as a zinc pigment, may also be included. A crosslinker may also be included.
Abstract:
Novel vinyl chloride copolymers including a hydroxyalkyl acrylate or methacrylate or allyl alcohol, an acid functionality from carboxylic acid-containing monomers and optionally an epoxy-containing vinyl monomer in selected propotions provide suitable binder resins for applications such as magnetic recording media, imparting enhanced dispersion and magnetic property characteristics while also having desirable rheological characteristics and, when the epoxy-containing vinyl monomer is used, desirable thermal stability.

Abstract:
High-temperature coating materials are prepared by cross-linking copolymers of oligomers produced by nickel catalyzed coupling of unsubstituted aryl polyhalides with substituted organic halides.
Abstract:
A waterborne coating composition providing a coating capable of substantial deformation without loss of continuity and the like comprises a phenoxy resin mixed with a relatively soft modifier resin, such as a polyester polyol, part of the hydroxyl groups of the phenoxy and modifier resins having been esterified by reaction with an anhydride of a di- or polycarboxylic acid and neutralization to provide the desired water dispersibility and other characteristics for the coating composition and the resulting coating.
