Abstract: A cryogenic process to more efficiently separate nitrogen from a nitrogen-containing hydrocarbon stream wherein the separate recovery of natural gas liquids is increased and the final nitrogen removal from natural gas is accomplished at lower than conventional pressures. The nitrogen-methane separation column is driven by a closed loop heat pump circuit that utilizes a nitrogen-methane mixture.
