Abstract: The flexbeam helicopter rotor has an improved snubber-vibration damper (52, 53) for positioning the flexbeam spar (22) relative to the torque tube (28), wherein the snubber-damper (52, 53) is an elastomeric bearing having a spherical and a flat portion (64, 70), and whose laminates (80, 82, 76, 78) are continuous, selectively preloaded and of selected material to provide increased fatigue life, size reduction, reduced laminate stress concentration, and reduced critical design stress in the snubber-vibration damper.

Abstract: The blade-to-hub connection (18) of the articulated helicopter rotor consists of a spherical elastomeric bearing (26) connected to the hub (12) and a composite yoke (32) connected thereto in series and consisting of a plurality of unidirectional high strength fibers bonded together to form a continuous strap which passes through a central opening (36) in the elastomeric bearing (26) and is pin-wrap connected to the hub (12) at a single station and to the blade (16) at two spaced stations so is to produce a construction which is light in weight, easy to manufacture, ballistically tolerant, redundant, and readily visually inspectable for structural integrity.
