    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for repairing parts such as a rotary disc/ drumrotor of a gas turbine engine. SOLUTION: This method includes steps for: heating a contact area 207 of a forged material and a contact area 307 of forged parts; pressurizing the contact area 207 of the material to the contact area 307 of the parts to joint them. A method for producing rotary parts of the gas turbine engine includes a step for heading the contact area 207 of the forged material and the contact area 307 of the forged parts, and a step for pressurizing the contact area 207 of the material to the contact area 307 of the parts to joint them.     Abstract: SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROVIDING LOCALIZED HEAT TREATMENT OF METAL COMPONENTS Systems and methods for providing localized heat treatment of metal components are provided. In this regard, a representative method includes: identifying a portion of a metal component to which localized heat treatment is to be performed; shielding an area in a vicinity of the portion of the metal component; and directing electromagnetic energy in the infrared (IR) spectrum toward the portion of the metal component such that the portion is heated to a desired temperature and such that the area in the vicinity of the portion that is subjected to shielding does not heat to the temperature desired for the heat treatment.

    Abstract: METHOD OF JOINING MATERIAL A method of repairing a part, such as a rotating disk/drum rotor of a gas turbine engine. The method includes: heating a contact area of a wrought material and a contact area of a wrought part; and pressing the contact area of the material against the contact area of the part to bond the parts. A method of making a rotating part of a gas turbine engine, comprising: heating a contact area of a wrought material and a contact area of a wrought part; and pressing the contact area of the material against the contact area of the part to bond the parts. In this regard, an exemplary method includes: identifying an area of a gas turbine component to which localized heat treatment is to be performed; positioning a resistance heating element, sized and shaped to transfer heat to the area, adjacent the area; electrically coupling a current-limiting power controller to the resistance heating element; and locally heating the area using the resistance heating element, with power being provided to the resistance heating element via the current- limiting power controller.
