Introducing a polymeric foam filler into the hollow cavities, prior to manufacturing, prevents contamination; enhancing manufacturing, efficiency and component integrity. Filling is by gravity via a boot (60) or negative pressure infiltration. Subsequent removal is by solvent or heat. The blade or vane can be encapsulated using a mould or moulding paper.
