Abstract: A method of diffusion coating an article includes applying a mixture to an article. The mixture consists essentially of an active coating metal of chromium powder, alumina powder, a diffusion activator of chromium(III) chloride and an organic carrier material. The article is then heated at a diffusion temperature to cause diffusion of the chromium powder into the article to form a diffusion coating on the article.
