    Abstract: Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell Matrix Tape and Assembly Method A matrix material for a molten carbonate fuel cell is described which is flexible, pliable and has rubberlike compliance at room temperature. The matrix has three components comprising fine inert particulate material, larger crack attenuating ceramic particulate material, and an organic polymeric binder. A process of assembling a molten carbonate fuel cell utilizing the compliant matrix material is also described. The compliant matrix material is inserted into a molten carbonate fuel cell stack utilizing fuel cell anodes with sufficient porosity to contain excess electrolyte. The fuel cell is heated up to a temperature sufficient to remove the polymer binder and cause a portion of the electrolyte material present in the anode to wick into the matrix to substantially fill it completely.     Abstract: Catalytic Combustor A catalytic combustor particularly adapted for use in wood and coal burning stoves is described comprising a high temperature stable support material containing a high activity, sulfur tolerant combustion catalyst. In addition to having a relatively long life, the catalytic combustors according to the present invention demonstrate useful performance even in the presence of sulfur containing fuels. Furthermore, the catalytic combustors of the present invention improve the efficiency of such stoves over and above that provided by conventional catalytic combustors.

    Abstract: ELECTROLYTE RESERVOIR FOR A FUEL CELL An electrolyte reservoir layer disposed behind and adjacent one of the catalyst layers of a fuel cell is porous and hydrophilic to the electrolyte. In one embodiment the reservoir layer includes impregnations of hydrophobic material to provide reactant gas passages through the reservoir layer to the catalyst layer, Additionally the reservoir layer includes impregnations of a material similar to the fuel cell electrolyte retaining matrix material to improve electrolyte transfer from the matrix into the reservoir. The impregnations of hydrophobic material are designed to provide good distribution of the reactant gas into the catalyst layer without consuming a large volume of the reservoir. In a preferred embodiment the reservoir is also the electrode substrate whereby the catalyst layer is bonded to the surface thereof.

The abradable coating comprises yttria stabilized zirconia with intentional porosity which is applied by plasma spraying to a MCrAlY bond coat which in turn rest on a superalloy substrate. The coating system is applied by plasma spraying. The coating system is adapted to interact with an abrasive coated abrasive treated gas turbine engine component.
