The nut base includes a nut bore with a threaded bore region that extends axially from the second nut end towards the first nut end. The nut flange includes a plurality of mounting apertures that are arranged circumferentially around the nut base. The nut flange may be connected to a substrate by a fastener that extends through a first one of the plurality of mounting apertures.

A gas turbine engine turbine section has tie rod assemblies (120) interconnecting an inner diameter structure and an outer casing (62). Each tie rod (122) has: an inner diameter end (124); an outer diameter end (126); and an eyelet (130) of an outer diameter spherical bearing formed at the outer diameter end (126). A first clevis (172) carries a spherical ball (152) of the bearing, a shank of said clevis (172) extending to an outer diameter (OD) end of said clevis (172). A tensioning bolt is mated to a threaded opening in said clevis OD end whereby tightening said bolt applies a tension to said tie rod (122). A radial span (L 2 ) between a center of the outer diameter spherical bearing and an inner diameter surface of the outer casing (62) is at least 50% greater than that (L 3 ) between an outer diameter (OD) surface of the outer ring (140) of the inner diameter structure and the center of the spherical bearing.

A cooling apparatus bifurcates and regulates cooling airflow provided to a mid-turbine frame. A flow metering tube includes a top portion and a tube portion, wherein the top portion includes a first central aperture that directs a first cooling airflow into the tube portion and a first plurality of apertures located circumferentially around the central aperture that directs a second cooling airflow to a portion outside the tube portion. A metering plate is located on the top portion of the flow metering tube, wherein the metering plate includes a second central aperture aligned with the central aperture of the flow metering tube and a second plurality of apertures located circumferentially around the central aperture, wherein a size of the second central aperture meters the first cooling airflow and a size and number of the second plurality of apertures meters the second cooling airflow.
