    Abstract: An all metal, high temperature resistant, catalyst element is provided by plating or depositing a noble metal comprising platinum and/or palladium onto a base material which comprises primarily aluminum, chromium and iron. The nickel-free, aluminum containing base material appears to be of advantage for at least certain all metal catalyst element operations and also results in substantially lower first cost catalyst units.

    Abstract: 1369019 Burning noxious vapours UNIVERSAL OIL PRODUCTS CO 21 Dec 1971 [28 Dec 1970] 59288/71 Heading F4B A device for burning noxious vapours, particularly from an enamel drying oven, comprises a housing with an inlet for fumes, a multisection tubular combustion chamber in the housing with the sections connected serially, a burner and flame inlet port and noxious fume inlet at the end of the combustion chamber remote from the fume inlet to the housing, baffles to direct the flow of noxious fumes over the combustion chamber to its fume inlet, and outlet means for the purified gases. The combustion chamber comprises tubular sections 2 connected by elbows 3, and fumes and additional air enter an extension 5 of the housing 1 through slots 8 surrounding the wire 6 to be dried. The fumes enter the combustion chamber 2 together with the flames from a burner 13, and circulate through the sections to an outlet fan (not shown). The sections 2 of the combustion chamber are supported on members 15 sliding over one another and forming baffles for directing the flow of the fumes. The drying oven and combustion chamber may be so arranged that the combustion chamber radiates heat into the drying oven proper, and part at least of the gaseous combustion products may be recycled through the oven.
