Abstract: The invention provides a resin composition that is the reaction product of an epoxy resin and an anhydride. The resin composition has an epoxy equivalent weight that is substantially the same as the epoxy equivalent weight of the epoxy resin. The resin composition may be used as a coating composition, or may be mixed with water to form a water based coating composition.
