Abstract: Aspects of the present invention relate to controlling a renewable energy power plant comprising a plurality of wind turbine generators (WTG)s and an energy storage system (ESS). A method includes: controlling the plurality of WTGs to stop generating power, and thereby to enter a non-exporting mode of operation of the renewable energy power plant, during which one or more auxiliary systems of the renewable energy power plant are powered to maintain at least one of the plurality of WTGs in a standby state, operable to start generating power upon demand; wherein the one or more auxiliary systems are powered during the non-exporting mode of operation.

Abstract: Embodiments herein describe optimizations for hybrid power plants that include wind turbine generators and photovoltaic generators by determining solar tracking setpoints for a field of photovoltaic generators co-located with a wind turbine generator, wherein the solar tracking setpoints orient a collector face for each photovoltaic generator sunward; in response to determining based on data received from the wind turbine generator that an airborne impactor event is occurring, adjusting the solar tracking setpoints to reposition the collector face out of a trajectory for airborne impactors; and transmitting the setpoints to tracking motors for the photovoltaic generators of the field.

Abstract: A power plant comprising: a plurality of photovoltaic (PV) modules arranged in a first and a second region of the power plant, wherein the PV modules in the same region are electrically connected with each other and wherein the PV modules of the first region are electrically connected to a local grid of the power plant via a first converter, and the PV modules of the second region are electrically connected to the local grid via a second converter; and a wind turbine generator (WTG) which is arranged such that the WTG is able to cast a shadow over at least one of the PV modules; wherein the first region and the second region extend in a substantially radial direction away from the WTG such that at most one of the two regions is at least partially covered by the shadow of the WTG at any time.

Abstract: A method for controlling charging of at least one electrical storage device is disclosed. Information regarding a power grid and the at least one electrical storage device is used by an aggregator to derive a weighted distribution of virtual inertia response and fast frequency response to be provided to the power grid by the electrical storage devices. A total power available for charging the at least one electrical storage device is derived in accordance with the weighted distribution by a charging controller. An active power setpoint is derived for each of the at least one electrical storage device on the basis of at least (i) the total available power and (ii) the information regarding the at least one electrical storage device. Finally, a charging state of each of the at least one electrical storage device is controlled based on the derived active power setpoint.
