Abstract: A set (200) of yaw claws (150) is provided comprising at least a first yaw (150a) claw and a second yaw claw (150b). The first yaw claw (150a) is to be used in a bearing ring (140) of a first yaw bearing (130) and the second yaw claw (150b) in a bearing ring (130) of a second yaw bearing (140). A circumference of the bearing ring (140) of the first yaw bearing (130) is substantially different from a circumference of the bearing ring (140) of the second yaw bearing (130). Each yaw claw (150) has a periphery, formed by a first side end (176), a second side end (178), an inner arc (172) and an outer arc (174), the inner arc (172) and the outer arc (174) being concentric with the respective bearing ring (140). At least two spring packs (166) are provided for pre-tensioning the yaw claw (150), respective spring pack centres (167) of the at least two spring packs (166) being arranged on a spring pack centreline (169) that is concentric with the inner arc (172) and the outer arc (174). A length of the spring pack centreline (169), measured from the first side end (176) to the second side end (178), of the first yaw claw (150a) is substantially equal to a length of the spring pack centreline (169) of the second yaw claw (150b).

Abstract: A controller for the yaw function is coupled with a yaw system for controlling the operation of yaw motors in the yaw function of a wind turbine. A control signal is provided to the controller that is reflective of a grid condition of an electric grid. The control signal is evaluated, and the controller selectively delays the yaw function based upon the control signal. In another embodiment, the yaw system includes brakes for the yaw motors that are coupled with an independent power supply. The controller selectively delays the yaw function if the brake power supply is not operational.

Abstract: A bearing unit of a yawing system of a wind turbine having a tower and a nacelle connected by the yawing system. The bearing unit includes an adjuster element moveably secured to the bearing unit, a body element translatable relative to the adjuster element, a bearing element in contact with the body element, and a biasing means positioned between the body element and the adjuster element for applying a tension force to the bearing unit. The adjuster element adjusts the tension force applied to the bearing unit through translation of the body element, and respective surfaces of the adjuster element and the body element are visible during use.

Abstract: This invention concerns a bearing unit (5) for a bearing assembly (23) of a yawing system (27) of a wind turbine (10). The wind turbine (10) comprises a tower (12) and a nacelle (14) connected by the yawing system (27). The yawing system (27) comprises a gear ring (24) comprising gear-toothed arrangement (33) configured to interact with a gear wheel of a motor to allow orientation of the nacelle (14) with respect to the tower (12). The bearing unit (5) comprises: an adjuster element (11) arranged to be moveably secured to the bearing assembly (23); a body element (8) translatable relative to the adjuster element (11); a bearing element (7) in contact with the body element (8), the bearing element (8) comprising a bearing surface (71) for contacting a surface (26, 28) of the gear ring (24) during use; and, a biasing means (9) positioned between the body element (8) and the adjuster element (11) for applying a tension force to the bearing unit (5) to bias the bearing element (8) into contact with the surface (26, 28) of the gear ring (24) during use. The adjuster element (11) is configured to adjust the tension force applied to the bearing unit (5) by controlling the translation of the body element (8), and the bearing unit (5) is configured such that respective surfaces (25, 21) of the adjuster element (11) and the body element 8 are visible during use.
