    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for operating a wind farm comprising a plurality of wind turbine generators having substantially the same real output power ratings supplying power to a grid. The method comprises the steps of selecting at least one turbine in a first group of wind turbines to support reactive power needs of the farm or grid by supplying or absorbing reactive power when needed; selecting at least one turbine in a second group of wind turbines to support reactive power needs of the farm or grid by absorbing reactive power when needed; and commanding at least one wind turbine in the first or second group to support reactive power needs of the farm or grid.
