Abstract: A torque head (100) for gripping tubular members has a housing, grip mechanism secured within the housing (102) for selectively gripping a tubular member, the grip mechanism including at least one jaw (141, 142, 143) selectively movable toward and away from a portion of a tubular member (12) within the housing, the at least one jaw having mounted thereon slip apparatus for engaging the portion of the tubular member, the slope apparatus including die apparatus movably mounted to the at least one jaw, the die apparatus movable with respect to the at least one jaw so that relative movement of the tubular with respect to the torque head is possible to the extent that the die apparatus is movable.

Abstract: An acoustic control system wirelessly operates a subsea latching assembly or other subsea device, such as an active seal. The acoustic control system may control a subsea first accumulator to release its stored hydraulic fluid to operate the latch assembly or other subsea device, such as an active seal. An RCD or other oilfield device may be unlatched or latched with the latching assembly. The acoustic control system may have a surface control unit, a subsea control unit, and two or more acoustic signal devices. A valve may allow switching from an umbilical line system to the acoustic control system accumulator.
