Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for reducing drilling vibration during drilling with casing. In one embodiment, an apparatus for reducing vibration of a rotating casing includes a tubular body disposed concentrically around the casing, wherein tubular body is movable relative to the casing. Preferably, a portion of the tubular body comprises a friction reducing material. In operation, the tubular body comes into contact with the existing casing or the wellbore instead of the rotating casing. Because the tubular body is freely movable relative to the rotating casing, the rotating casing may continuously rotate even though the tubular body is frictionally in contact with the existing casing.

Abstract: A method of forming a centraliser involves disposing a collapsible core 935 in a pressure chamber (910, fig 10), the collapsible core 935 having a profile of a centraliser. A tubular sleeve is placed around the collapsible core and the pressure in the chamber (910, figure 10) is increased which conforms the tubular sleeve to the profile of the centralizer. The collapsible core 935 is then collapsed 935a to release it from the formed centraliser 940. The centraliser 940 may have a friction reducing coating or a resilient material on its inner surface.

Abstract: Apparatus for reducing drilling vibration by reducing friction between a drilling casing 10 and an existing casing 20 or wellbore. Disclosed is a tubular body 110 disposed concentrically around a casing 10 wherein the tubular body is movable relative to the casing. Preferably the tubular body 110 will have at least one contact member, such as a blade, and will at least in part comprise a friction reducing material. In operation, the tubular body comes into contact with the existing casing 20 instead of the rotating casing 10. Because the tubular body 110 is free to move relative to the rotating casing, the rotating casing may continuously continue to rotate even though the tubular body 110 is frictionally in contact with the existing casing 20. A two part tubular body and methods of forming centralizers are also disclosed.
