Abstract: Methods for directly calculating downhole pump fillage which avoid the need and expense of a pump dynamometer card and subsequent calculations. The methods determining the load on a polished rod 175 between a motor 110 and a downhole pump 160 and its displacement at a plurality of times during a single stroke of a pumping unit and using these to determine the minimum stroke, the maximum stroke, the change in rod displacement and the transfer point which are used to calculate an estimated pump efficiency.
