Abstract: Locking device for insertion into stator grooves in electric machines is made from a glass fibre core impregnated with a thermosetting resin and covered on at least two sides with a layer of an aromatic polyamide fibre fabric impregnated with a thermosetting resin. Pref. the core is of epoxy resin impregnated glass fibre and the facing layers are of poly(1,4-phenyleneterephthalamide) impregnated with phenolic resin. The locking devices are of the type which are inserted into undercut locking grooves in the stators of electrical machines to hold the stator coils in place. The devices have the desired strength and elasticity for insertion into the groove, and hold the coils securely in place without causing abrasion of the coils. The devices withstand heat and vibration encountered in service without abrasion of the stator iron.
