Abstract:
The present invention relates toa method of producing precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) where a retention/strength enhancing chemical is added to milk of lime to form a mixture thereof prior to adding the mixture of the retention/strength enhancing chemical and milk of lime to paper making stock in a pipeline leading to a headbox of a paper making machine, whereafter carbon dioxide is introduced to the paper making stock, and the carbonation reaction between milk of lime and carbon dioxide is allowed to proceed in the presence of both fibres and the retention/strength enhancing chemical.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for feeding chemicals into a process liquid flow. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for feeding chemicals into a process liquid flow. The object of a preferred embodiment of the method and apparatus is feeding retention chemical together with an additive, which may be another chemical or for example a mineral, to paper suspension fed to a paper machine. The method and apparatus are often applicable particularly to feeding of the additive of the paper manufacturing, such as a filler, together with a retention chemical to paper pulp essentially simultaneously. Abstract:
An in-line production method for providing a liquid flow of at least one additive in the short circulation and into the liquid flow of a paper making stock of a fiber web machine by feeding, the liquid flow of the at least one additive to the liquid flow of the short circulation, wherein a suitable amount of a microfibrillated cellulose or nanofibrillated polysaccharide is provided substantially simultaneously with the feeding of liquid flow of the at least one additive.
Abstract:
A ply for a paper and paperboard made from a ply substrate material, wherein the ply comprises a hybrid material, in an amount of 1-25 wt-% of the ply, wherein the hybrid material is introduced into a target suspension of the short circulation of a fibrous web forming process of a fibrous web machine, in an in-line process, wherein said target suspension forms the ply substrate material, and the hybrid material comprises an alkaline earth carbonate precipitated onto or into fibers or fibrils of a nanofibrillated polysaccharide.
Abstract:
The method of the present invention for crystallizing a filler, especially in order to precipitate calcium carbonate on the surfaces of solids in the short circulation of a fiber web machine by feeding carbon dioxide and lime milk to the liquid flow of the short circulation and allowing them to react with one another, is characterized in that the feed system, the mixing method and/or mixing rate of the chemicals are selected such that a size distribution of the calcium carbonate crystals suitable for the purpose is obtained. Moreover, the invention relates to an approach system for a fiber web machine applying this method, characterized in that it is provided with devices for feeding and mixing carbon dioxide and lime milk into the liquid flow at such a rate that the applicable size distribution of the calcium carbonate crystals is obtained.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and an arrangement for proportioning thick stock to a short circulation of a fiber web machine. Specifically, the method and the arrangement of the invention relate to treating and proportioning thick stock components of paper making stock having a consistency of the order of 2 -12 %, preferably 2 -5 %, for instance into white water one component after another alone or together with an additive.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for feeding chemicals into a process liquid flow. The object of a preferred embodiment of the method and the apparatus of the present invention is feeding retention /chemical together with an additive, which may be another chemical or for example a mineral, to paper suspension flow to be fed to a paper machine. The method and the apparatus of the invention are particularly well applicable in feeding an additive of the paper manufacture, such as a filler, together with a retention chemical to paper pulp essentially simultaneously.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and a reactor for mixing one or more flows into a process liquid flow. Advantageously the method and reactor according to the invention are suitable for introducing such flows into a process liquid flow that either alone or together with a process flow tend to form organic or inorganic deposits onto the wall of the flow pipe. Especially preferably the invention is suitable for use when the chemicals of papermaking are introduced into the pulp.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of and reactor for in-line production of calcium carbonate into a target suspension flow. The method and reactor according to the invention are suitable for introducing and mixing lime milk and carbon dioxide into a target suspension flow so that the calcium carbonate crystals formed during their reaction are not allowed to precipitate onto the walls (12) of the reactor (10), because the reactor is provided with means (16, 18, 20) for preventing the carbonate crystals from attaching to the surfaces of the structures located in the reaction zone.
