Abstract:
The invention relates to a fibrous product, in particular tissue and towel products, comprising crosslinked cellulosic fibers and softwood kraft pulp fibers having a hemicellulose content greaterthan about 17 percent as measured by the 18 percent caustic solubility test. Methods for making said products from an aqueous furnish comprising said fibers are described.
Abstract:
A fibrous layer that includes a refined blend of crosslinked cellulosic fibers and noncrosslinked cellulosic fibers. In one embodiment, the layer includes about 85 percent by weight crosslinked fibers and about 15 percent by weight noncrosslinked fibers. An absorbent construct that includes the fibrous layer and a liquid storage layer. Personal care absorbent products that include the distribution layer.
Abstract:
Discontinuous fibers are coated with binder and solid particulate materials are adhered to the fibers by the binder. The fibers are typically substantially continuously coated with the binder. The binder material may be heat bondable and the treated fibers may be mixed with other fibers for use in producting a wide variety of structures and products.
Abstract:
An insulating board (110) having at least one ply (113) containing an expanded light weight resilient particulate filler material (115) evenly dispersed throughout its structure can be manufactured by forming that ply from a slurry having 2 to 5 percent pulp fibers based on the total weight of the slurry. The filler material is dispersed throughout the slurry for that ply prior to forming the slurry into a web for that ply. It can be formed with additional plies of standard normal density fiber material. The board can be formed into cups (150), plates (170) or containers (160) for holding food or beverages.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an absorbent composite having improved surface dryness. The composite has three strata with adjacent strata separated by a transition zone. The composite's first stratum includes synthetic fibers and provides the composite with improved surface dryness. Methods for forming the composite and absorbent articles that incorporated the composite are also provided.
Abstract:
An absorbent composite having a reticulated core and a fibrous stratum is disclosed. The core and stratum are integrally formed, and the stratum is coextensive with an outward surface of the core. In one embodiment, the composite includes strata on opposing outward facing surfaces of the core. The core includes a fibrous matrix and absorbent material. The fibrous matrix defines voids and passages between the voids, which are distributed throughout the composite. Absorbent material is located within some of the voids. On wetting, absorbent material located in these voids is expandable into the void. Absorbent articles that include the composite are also disclosed.

Abstract:
An absorbent composite (10) that includes a fibrous matrix having absorbent material dispersed in bands (12) along the composite's length is disclosed. The bands define liquid distribution zones (14). On liquid contact, absorbent material material swelling occurs and produces a wetted composite having flutes that include swollen absorbent material separated by distribution zones (14), regions of the composite that are substantially free of absorbent material. Absorbent articles that include the composite are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A unitary absorbent composite having a plurality of strata is disclosed. In the composite, adjacent strata are separated by a transition zone integrally connecting the strata. Each stratum includes fibers and a binder, and the transition zone includes fibers from adjacent strata. Method for forming the unitary composite are also disclosed.
