    Abstract: A refrigeration unit includes a cabinet, a door coupled to the cabinet, at least one gasket coupled to the door, and a heat loop conduit. The cabinet includes a front perimeter that surrounds an opening to a storage compartment within the cabinet. The door is operable between an open position to provide access to the storage compartment and a closed position to conceal the opening to the storage compartment. The at least one gasket is configured to be compressed between the door and the front perimeter of the cabinet in the closed position of the door. The heat loop conduit has a first conduit portion that extends around a majority of the opening along the front perimeter of the cabinet and a second conduit portion that extends around the majority of the opening along the front perimeter of the cabinet.

    Abstract: A refrigeration unit includes a water tray. The water tray includes at least one side wall that extends from a floor of the water tray to an upper rim of the water tray to define a cavity. A guide feature is coupled to the upper rim of the water tray. The guide feature includes a connection feature that is aligned with the cavity of the water tray. A drain conduit is coupled to the connection feature of the guide feature. Water conveyed by the drain conduit is configured to be received within the water tray.

    Abstract: A refrigeration appliance includes a cabinet having a trim breaker defining a mullion region and a refrigerant system. The cabinet defines a first compartment and a second compartment. The refrigerant system includes a refrigerant defining a flow path through a compressor, a heat loop coupled to the compressor, a condenser coupled to the heat loop, and an evaporator assembly coupled to the compressor and the condenser. The heat loop is routed around a perimeter of the cabinet and through the mullion region. The evaporator assembly includes at least one first evaporator disposed in the first compartment and a second evaporator disposed in the second compartment. The at least one first evaporator may include a first roll bond evaporator coupled to a second roll bond evaporator in series with the first, or a wire-on-tube evaporator.

    Abstract: A refrigeration unit includes a storage compartment, an evaporator compartment, an evaporator disposed within the evaporator compartment, a drain pan beneath the evaporator and having first and second sloped surfaces, and a panel between the storage and evaporator compartments that defines an opening. The storage compartment is in fluid communication with the evaporator compartment via the opening. The refrigeration unit also includes an evaporator fan that delivers air from the evaporator compartment to the storage compartment via the opening, and an evaporator fan grille coupled to the panel and extending outward therefrom into the storage compartment. The evaporator fan grille includes a body that extends over the opening and that is in a spaced-relationship with the panel, and at least one spacer feature extending from the panel to the body.

    Abstract: An appliance includes a refrigeration compartment that is defined by a plurality of interior walls. A freezer compartment is positioned proximate to the refrigeration compartment. A compressor is positioned proximate to at least one of the refrigeration compartment and the freezer compartment. A first evaporator is operably coupled to the compressor. A suction line is operably coupled to the first evaporator and is configured to convey refrigerant from the first evaporator toward the compressor. The suction line includes a suction line looping portion that generally defines an inner suction line loop and an outer suction line loop. A capillary tube is operably coupled to the first evaporator and is configured to convey refrigerant to the first evaporator. The capillary tube is configured to contact the suction line looping portion, such that heat from the capillary tube is transferred to the suction line.

    Abstract: A refrigeration unit includes a cabinet with a refrigerator compartment, a freezer compartment, and a machine compartment. The cabinet includes a mullion region between the refrigerator compartment and the freezer compartment, a first pass-through therethrough providing access from an external environment to the refrigerator compartment, and a second pass-through therethrough providing access from the external environment to the freezer compartment. The cabinet further includes a third pass-through extending through the mullion region, and a refrigerant system. The refrigerant system includes a three-way valve configured to direct a refrigerant down a first flow path or a second flow path, the refrigerant in the first flow path flows through the first pass-through, a first evaporator, the third pass-through, and the second evaporator, and the refrigerant in the second flow path flows through the second pass-through and the second evaporator.
