    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyurethane foam composition which gives a foam permeating moisture but a low liquid permeability and achieving stretchability and satisfied tensile strength, tearing strength and a surface touch to meet requirement of a thin flexible polyurethane foam useful as a lining of a bandage. SOLUTION: The open cell polyurethane foam material relating to the invention is made of a composition which contains a component containing active hydrogen, an organic polyisocyanate component with the number of isocyanate functional groups of 2.0 to 2.25, a surfactant and a catalytic component. The foam material is about 6 to 20 mill (about 0.15 to 0.5 mm) in thickness and about 10 to 50 pcf (about 160 to 801 kcm) in density and has the cell diameter of about 25 to 80 μm and the pore size of about 1 to 25 μm with about 3 to 10 in the ratio of cell diameter to pore size and a steam permeation speed larger than about 1,000 g/cm2 per day. This eliminates the leakage of water or similar fluid, thereby making the foam material useful specifically for the lining material for bandage.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiple-layer foam structure having no boundary line between layers, and a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The multiple-layer polyurethane foam is manufactured by a process for casting a first foaming mixture which contains an organic isocyanate component, an active hydrogen-containing component reacting with the isocyanate component, a surfactant and a catalyst on a second foaming mixture which contains an organic isocyanate component, an active hydrogen-containing composite reacting with the isocyanate component, and a surfactant and a catalyst; and a process for curing the obtained multiple layer to form the multiple-layer foam structure not having a boundary line capable of being discriminated between layers even if observed in a magnification of 50 times by SEM.

    Abstract: New polyurethane foam produced by foaming and hardening a mixture of organic isocyanate, active hydrogen-containing component, surfactant and catalyst.     Abstract: A method of manufacturing a polymer foam composite is described, the method comprising forming an article having a first surface and an opposite second surface from a precursor composition, the precursor composition comprising a polymer foam precursor composition, and a filler composition comprising a plurality of magnetic, electrically conductive particles; foaming the precursor composition to form a plurality of cells in precursor composition; applying a magnetic field to the foamed precursor composition, wherein the magnetic field is of a strength and applied for a time effective to align the electrically conductive, magnetic particles into mutually isolated chains between the first surface and the opposite second surface of the article; and solidifying the polymer foam precursor composition to provide a polymer foam composite having a density of about 1 to about 125 pounds per cubic foot and a volume resistivity of about 10-3ohm-cm to about 103ohm-cm at a pressure of 60 pounds per square inch. Polymer foam composites made by this method are also described, as well as articles formed therefrom.
