Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for vacuuming toner waste from a toner sump in a xerographic printing machine. A xerographic module in the machine contains a photoconductor, charging devices, a cleaning unit and the toner sump. When the toner sump approaches a full condition, the toner waste must be removed in order to prevent failure of the xerographic module seals. This is accomplished by removing the xerographic module from the machine, opening a sealed toner sump port and attaching a vacuum source to the toner sump port so that the toner waste can be removed with the vacuum source. A disposal adaptor tool sealingly engages the vacuum source to the toner sump at the toner sump port, allowing the toner to removed in a clean glove environment. Once the toner waste is removed from the toner sump, a new toner seal is placed over the toner sump port and the xerographic module is returned to the machine for further use.

Abstract: La presente invencion se refiere aun método y aparato para someter a vacío desecho de pigmento orgánico desde un colector de pigmento orgánico en una máquina de impresion xerográfica, dispositivos de carga, una unidad de limpieza y el colector de pigmento orgánico. Cuando el colector de pigmento orgánico se aproxima a una condicion llena, el desecho del pigmento orgánico debe retirarse a fin de evitar falla de los sellos del modulo xerográfico. Esto se logra al retirar el modulo xerográfico de la máquina, abrir una compuerta de colector de pigmento orgánico sellada y conectar una fuente de vacío a la compuerta de colector de pigmento orgánico, de manera tal que el desecho de pigmento orgánico pueda retirarse con la fuente de vacío. Una herramienta adaptadora de desecho acopla de manera sellante la fuente de vacío al colector de pigmento orgánico en la compuerta de colector de pigmento orgánico, permitiendo que el pigmento orgánico se retire en un ambiente de guante limpio. Una vez que el desecho de pigmento orgánico se retira del colector de pigmento orgánico, se coloca un nuevo sello de pigmento orgánico sobre la compuerta de colector de pigmento orgánico, y el modulo xerográfico se regresa a la máquina para uso adicional.

Abstract: An apparatus (48) which advances a sheet (25) through a transfer zone (64) and into registration with information developed on a moving member (20). The sheet (25) is advanced to a position wherein a leading portion thereof is within the transfer zone (64) and a trailing portion thereof is immediately behind the transfer zone (64) relative to the forward direction of movement of the moving member (20). The leading portion of the sheet (25) is advanced through the transfer zone (64) at a first velocity and the trailing portion of the sheet (25) is advanced in a region immediately behind the transfer zone (64) at a second velocity, which is greater than the first velocity, so as to create a buckle (19) in the trailing portion of the sheet (25) in the region. The buckle (19) functions to eliminate relative velocity between the photoconductive belt (20) and any portion of sheet (25) within the transfer zone (64) so as to substantially eliminate slip between the sheet (25) and the photoconductive belt (20).

Abstract: The method involves removing a seal from an exit port (88) on a toner sump housing, where waste toner is collected. A disposable adaptor tool (100) is attached to the exit port. The waste toner is moved from toner sump housing via the disposable adaptor tool into a waste toner container. The detachable adaptor tool is then detached from the exit port and seal is placed over the exit port in order to reseal the toner sump housing.
