Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liq. developer capable of controlling or regulating the electric charges of particles so as to optimize image quality by incorporating a nonpolar liq., a thermoplastic resin, a colorant, an electric charge orienting agent and an electric charge controlling agent made of rhodamine Y, benzoic acid, a molybdate, etc. SOLUTION: This liq. developer to be positively charged contains a nonpolar liq., a pigment or dye, a thermoplastic resin, an electric charge orienting agent and an electric charge controlling agent made of rhodamine Y, C.I. Pigment Red 81:3, benzoic acid, 2-[6-ethylamino-3-ethylimino-2,7-dimethylxanthen-9-yl]- ethyl ester or a molybdate. This developer has various advantages including the development and formation of an image having improved image quality especially in a 4-color 4-pass ionographic developing system for a color printer and gives a developed image having high quality and excellent in resolution.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liq. developer capable of controlled or regulated electrostatic charge of particles by having a phosphoric ester, an organic aluminum composite soluble in nonpolar liquid, its hydrate and its mixture in a charge director. SOLUTION: The liq. developer contains a nonpolar liq., a resin, an arbitrary colorant, a charge director and, optionally, a charge controlling agent. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate or diminish defects in a developed image such as smear, the lowering of resolution and density and a color change of the print by incorporating an electric charge controlling agent made of a poly(ethylene oxide-b- propylene oxide-b-ethylene oxide) triblock copolymer so that a liq. developer is positively charged. SOLUTION: This liq. developer to be positively charged contains a nonpolar solvent, a pigment or dye, a poly(ethylene oxide-b-propylene oxide) block copolymer (PEO:PPO), especially PEO:PPO Pluronic F-108 as an electric charge controlling agent and an electric charge orienting agent, e.g. aluminum salt of alkylated salicylic acid such as aluminum hydroxybis[3,5-tert. butylsalicylate] or a mixture of hydroxybis[3,5-tert. butylsalicylate] with aluminum salt of alkylated salicylic acid such as EMPHOS PS-900.
