Abstract: A system and method for controlling the imaging device in a single pass multi color electrophotographic printing machine, comprising a photoconducti ve member defining a timing aperture, the member moving along a path in a printing machine and a plurality of imaging devices, each one of the plurality of imaging devices writing a latent image on the photoconductive member. The system further includes a sensor, located adjacent the photoconductive member, to sense the aperture in the photoconductive member as it passes the sensor and generate a signal indicative thereof and a control device, which generates a timing signal for each of the plurality of imaging devices as a function of the signal generat ed by the sensor and a plurality of predetermined parameters.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for controlling an image pickup device in a single-path multicolor electrophotographic printer. SOLUTION: The system has a photoreceptor belt 10 which regulates a timing aperture and moves along a path 12 of the printer, and a plurality of image pickup devices B each of which forms a latent image on the photoreceptor belt 10. The system also has a sensor, which is located adjacently to the photoreceptor belt 10, and detects the aperture when the aperture in the photoreceptor belt 10 passes through the sensor and generates a signal showing its detection. The system further has a controller 90 which generates a timing signal for each of the image pickup devices B as a function between the signal generated by the sensor and predetermined parameters.
