    Abstract: An adapter (12) for a raster output scanning printer (14), and more particularly for interfacing a digital electronic image processor (10) with dedicated connections for printer control and operation with the raster output scanning printer (14).The adapter (12) is characterized by comprising means (21) for receiving digital command data from dedicated input connections from said electronic image processor (10) and for initiating control functions in response thereto; means (19) for receiving and distributing digital clock signals of a predetermined uniform frequency transmitted thereto by said electronic image processor (10) on dedicated input connections; means (35) for receiving packets of video print information on dedicated input connections from said electronic image processor (10) and for retiming said video print information for transmission to said printer (14); and means (38) for monitoring transmission of video print information to said printer (14) and for requesting additional packets thereof from said electronic image processor (10).

    Abstract: High resolution character generator for producing rows of characters to be scanned on a display medium. Input data defining characters to be printed in ordered rows of text is sorted to provide specifications for the characters which begin on each successive scan line. These specifications are stored initially in an input buffer, and specifications for characters which have been partially printed in a previous scan line are stored in an active character buffer. For each scan line, the character specifications are read first from the active character buffer and then from the input buffer until an end of line specifier is reached. For each character specification received, a font memory containing data defining the characters is cycled. The data from the font memory is decoded and presented to the display medium on a line by line basis.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a position indicator which rides over a surface for controlling a cursor over a visual display. The indicator generates signals indicative of its positions to cause the cursor to be displayed on the display at a corresponding position. The indicator includes a control mechanism that comprises a transport sphere in combination with position wheels indicative of Cartesian coordinates. The sphere is in contact with the surface over which the indicator rides and the position wheels contact the sphere at a position on the sphere approximately 90 DEG from the contact loci of the sphere and the surface.

Then, the image bitmap is loaded into said memory region column by column by sequentially loading the words in the changed sequence, wherein the words of said one set is loaded into sequential locations and the words of said other set is loaded into the location that would result if the least significant bit of each successive addresses was reversed. Finally, the entire page is sequentially read out from said memory, by row or column.
