    Abstract: A method of ejecting copy sheets from the compiler in a printing apparatus that includes a processing section (2) for transferring a developed image onto a copy sheet and a finishing section (8) with a compiler (96) and a stapler (140) for receiving plural copy sheets to generate a print set. In particular, the level of copy sheets in a compiler tray (128) is sensed, a tag in non-volatile memory indicating a number of allowable extra copy sheets in the compiler is monitored, and a capacity count for sheets to be stapled is referenced. In response, a set of copy sheets may be ejected from the compiler (96) in an unscheduled manner as a function of the level of copy sheets in the compiler tray (128), the tag in non-volatile memory, and the capacity count for sheets to be stapled. This enables the finisher to complete a set that might have been prematurely ejected or enables the finisher to eject a set before reaching a jam condition.

    Abstract: An apparatus which determines the location of an edge of an advancing sheet and discriminates between the edge and a hole in the sheet. After the leading edge of the sheet is detected by a sensor (108) and the sheet has moved a first predetermined distance, the absence or presence of the sheet is sensed for a second predetermined distance. If the sheet is not detected as it moves the second predetermined distance, the control logic (114) indicates that the trailing edge has been detected. In the event the sheet is sensed, the control logic indicates that a hole has been detected and the process is repeated to locate the trailing edge.

    Abstract: An apparatus for monitoring and controlling electrical parameter of an imaging surface, the monitoring controlling apparatus including a patch gene rator for recording a first control patch at a first voltage level and a second contro l patch at a second voltage level on the imaging surface; electrostatic voltmeter for mea suring voltage potentials associated with said first control patch and second contr ol patch. Then, the processo r produces and sends a feedback error signal to said patch generator if said d eviation exceed a threshold level. The patch generator records a third control patch at a third voltage level on the imaging surface upon reception of said error signal The ESVsenses said third control patch. The processor calcu lates the electrical parameters of the imaging surface from the measured voltage potential of the third control patch and determines a correction factor. The charging device, exposure system and dev eloper are adjusted in accordance to said correction factor

    Abstract: La presente invencion se refiere a un aparato para verificar y controlar un parámetro eléctrico de una superficie formadora de imagen, el aparato para control de verificacion incluye un generador de parche para registrar un primer parche de control a un primer nivel de voltaje y un segundo parche de control a un segundo nivel de voltaje en la superficie formadora de imagen; un voltímetro electrostático para medir potenciales de voltaje asociados con el primer parche de control y el segundo parche de control. Un procesador, en comunicacion con el generador de parches, calcula los parámetros eléctricos de la superficie formadora de imagen a partir de los potenciales de voltaje medidos desde el primer y segundo parches de control. El procesador determina una desviacion entre los valores de parámetros eléctricos calculados y valores pre-configurados. Luego, el procesador produce y envía una señal de error de realimentacion al generador de parches si la desviacion excede un nivel umbral. El generador de parche registra un tercer parche de control a un tercer nivel de voltaje en la superficie formadora de imagen al recibir la señal de error. El ESV detecta el tercer parche de control. El procesador calcula los parámetros eléctricos de la superficie formadora de imagen a partir del potencial de voltaje medido del tercer parche de control y determina un factor de correccion.
