Abstract:
Abstract:
This invention relates to a method and apparatus for supporting line-conditioned data stream (LCDS) data in a job-oriented environment. More particularly, the invention is directed to a job-oriented system that also has the ability to process LCDS data. In addition, the LCDS data is processed in a manner that will exploit advanced job management functions of the system.
Abstract:
The invention generates a page description language compliant data stream (S140), that has been pre-designed and pre-processed to create unique and predictable page element ordering, overlay and layout, and for splitting large page elements into multiple independent elements. In this way, multiple processors can be used to render the document without merging the data stream.

Abstract:
Shifting a page image while it is still in compressed form. The page image is compressed into independent strips that are a full page in the fast scan direction, and a small number of scanlines in the slow scan direction. Then, to shift the page image, whole strips can be deleted in one margin and/or deleted from the other. If the number of scanlines per strip is small enough, the difference in a margin created by the change of one strip will not be apparent. This invention can be used to advantage when it is decided at print time that the output shall be in the form of a saddle-stitched booklet requiring two-up printing, folding and subsequent trimming of the outside edges to uniform alignment. Here, a progressive page shift can be introduced at the printer controller while the images are still compressed, instead of requiring the change to be done to the PostScript Master, which would require reRIPing or decompression, shift and recompression.

Abstract:
A billing module for a document processing system is configured by the document processing system. The billing module accepts a billing strategy from the document processing system. The billing strategy lists parameters or events the billing module is to monitor. Additionally the billing strategy provides algorithms. The algorithms define the function of billing meters. The billing module instantiates meters according to the strategy and updates the meters based on the monitored parameters as described by the billing strategy. The billing module is used by a wide variety of devices. Device developers need only define the billing strategy, in for example a billing strategy script. The need to "hard code" custom billing software for each new device is eliminated. Instead the billing module is reused and simply reconfigured via the billing strategy script.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain at least one out of stable print performance, improved image quality, and mutual operation. SOLUTION: A method, wherein print performance which prints a raster image file and image quality can be improved, is constituted of a stage which fetches digital image data, a stage which divides the digital image data, a stage which forms page descriptive language file of an digital image, a stage which analyzes the page descriptive language file from the digital image data, a stage which reassembles the page descriptive language file and forms a rasterized image as a merging, and a state which subjects the rasterized image to raster image processing.
