    Abstract: A method of automatically placing ordered paper stock (covers or inserts) from sets of paper stock, the sets of paper stock comprised of an arbitrary number of covers or inserts, into finished copy sets. In a reproduction job run, and with the method of automatic recovery from a machine paper jam in which the copy sheets or paper stock in process has become misoriented, comprising the steps of selecting an automatic paper stock ordering option at the operator interface, programming the required order of the paper stock in a finished set of reproduced documents, determining the repetitive frequency of the insert sheets, and automatically selectively inserting or discarding insert sheets in order to provide sets of copy sheets with uniformly placed paper stock. Also, a method is disclosed for automatically recovering after a jam clearance by selectively purging paper stock to maintain the continuity of the ordered paper stock in the completed copy sets.

    SOLUTION: The web handling module 100 includes a plenum 240; an air vent which is connected with the plenum 240, also with an air treatment part and is structured so as to generate a negative air pressure in the plenum 240; a supporting plate 120 which is sealingly connected with the plenum 240 and has a plurality of openings through which air passes; and a porous belt 160 which is wound around the supporting belt 120 so as to form a continuous loop, wherein the porous belt 160 makes a negative air pressure connect the porous belt 160 with the web 150 moving on the supporting plate 120 so that the porous plate 160 rotates around the supporting plate 120 without generating relative motion between the web 150 and the porous belt.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure capable of bringing about a higher stacking speed by using a low speed stacking technique in a finishing system.
    SOLUTION: A finishing module 1 is provided with first and second disk stackers 2, 3, and a compiler/stacker tray 4. Arranged on an opposite side of the compiler/stacker tray 4, the disk stackers 2, 3 face with each other. The compiler/stacker tray 4 is common to both the disk stackers 2, 3 and is capable of accepting a set of sheets 5 stuck after the sheets 5 are marked. The disk stackers 2, 3 are capable of rotating and stacking the sheets 5 when the sheets 5 are feeded into a disk input slot 6. The sheets 5 are fed into the module 1 and can be directed in an alternating one or two-sheet sequence to each of the two disc stackers 2, 3.
