Abstract:
The method of determining a variable of interest associated with a sample having a quantity of organisms received in a container, the method comprising the steps of: acquiring, from a camera, an image the sample in the container; and determining a value of the variable of interest associated with the sample using the image.
Abstract:
The photo-coupled data acquisition system can have a container having a contour wall extending upwardly from a closed bottom, for containing a sample therein, a light emitter operable to emit diffused light into the container at an initial intensity, a photodetector operable to detect a reflected intensity of the diffused light, and a structure connected to the contour wall and holding the light emitter and the photodetector at a predetermined height above the bottom of the container and in an orientation facing inside the container, wherein during operation of the system, the initial light intensity is attenuated by the sample and the reflected intensity thereof can be correlated to an information value concerning a variable of interest of the sample.
Abstract:
There is described a system for predicting growth of a population of organisms. The system has: a container; a structure facing the container and having a camera with a field of view orientable towards a sample of said population of organisms, and being configured for acquiring an image of said sample at a moment in time; and a controller configured for: accessing said image; using a growth indication quantity determination engine and said accessed image, determining at least a value of the growth indication quantity being associated to the sample of said population; and using a growth prediction engine, and based on a previously determined value of the growth indication quantity at a prior moment in time and on the determined value of the growth indication quantity, determining at least a predicted value of said growth indication quantity for said population at least at a subsequent moment in time.
Abstract:
There is described a scale for determining weight of one or more organisms contained in a sample. The scale generally has: a camera having a field of view orientable towards the sample and being configured for acquiring an image of the one or more organisms of the sample; a controller having a memory and a processor configured to perform the steps of: accessing the acquired image; using an organism detection engine being stored on the memory and being trained, detecting one or more organism representations in one or more corresponding portions of the accessed image and generating detection data concerning the one or more detected organism representations; and using an organism weight determination engine being stored on the memory and being trained, determining weight data concerning weight associated to the one or more detected organism representations based on the detection data.
