Abstract: ELECTRO-MECHANICAL CHEST COMPRESSION DEVICE The invention in an aspect concerns an electro-mechanical chest compression device (2). The device comprises a housing (6) operable to support a patient's back, a motor (79) disposed in the housing and a drive spool (42) operably attached to the motor, wherein the motor is capable of rotating the drive spool. The device further comprises a belt (3) attached to the drive spool, the belt being capable of extending at least partially around the chest of a patient, wherein rotation of the drive spool tightens the belt to compress the chest of the patient. The device also includes a spline (65) attached to the belt and a slot (43) disposed in the drive spool. The slot is sized and dimensioned to engage the spline when the belt is attached to the drive spool.
