Abstract: An enclosure or plenum (50) that supports a looped pump tube (44) is hingedly connected to a framed thin-walled heat exchange bag (54) through which working fluid from an intravascular heat exchange catheter (12) flows. The frame with bag can be inserted between cold plates (31) to exchange heat with the working fluid flowing through the bag. With the framed bag between the plates, the looped pump tube (44) from the enclosure or plenum is receivable in the raceway (32) of a peristaltic pump (30), which pumps working fluid through the system.

Abstract: A peristaltic pump has an arcuate raceway (32, 130) with a partially concave inner surface (36, 136) extending through an arc of at least one hundred eighty degrees (180). The arc defines a midpoint (38/138), and a rotor (34/134) faces the inner surface of the raceway (32, 130) and is both rotatable relative to the raceway (32, 130) and translationally movable relative to the raceway (32, 130) between a pump position, wherein the rotor (34/134) is spaced from the midpoint (38/138) a first distance, and a tube load position, wherein the rotor (34/134) is spaced from the midpoint (38/138) a second distance greater than the first distance. A rotor motor (58) is coupled to the rotor (34/134) to rotate the rotor and rollers (46, 48) are arranged on the rotor to contact tubing disposed between the rotor (34/134) and the raceway (32, 130) when the rotor (34, 134) is in the pump position. A manual positioning mechanism (70) or a loading motor (140) can move the rotor (34 or 134) toward and away from the raceway (32, 130).
